Notes
Tidvis fryktelig erotisk, vakker film om en trekant, om kirkens undertrykking av følelser etc. etc. Småmorsom til tider. Men først og fremst en veldig bra film med en fryktelig vakker hovedperson...

Lillebil (OFF)
Lilies is the story of three young men, who fall in love with each other. That is, two of them, Simon and Vallier, fall in love with each other, the third one, Boilau, falls in love with Simon. When his love is not returned, he uses all means to destroy the others, and then take refuge in religion to explain his actions.
This story, originally taking place in 1912, is retold in 1952, when Boilou, who has become bishop, is visiting a prison to take confession from an inmate, Simon. All the inmates take part in staging the story, to make Boilau confess his sins and ask forgiveness.
Telling the story this way has several important consequences. First, we know from the beginning that the relationship between the young men will have a tragic ending. By going back to the two men in the prison all the time, we are reminded of this, and are bound to concentrate on why things go wrong, instead of speculating on how it will end.
Second, there is a certain comic effect - for instance, all roles are played by men.
Third, the story told is not objective - it is told from Simon's point of view. We see the story from the point of view of a young man who is in love with another young man, and at the same time is entertained by a certain woman. He has to choose (much like for instance Clive in Maurice) whether to be "true to himself" or to lead the secure life of marriage. Gradually, we come to see that the story is not exactly the same from Boilau's point of view - the young man unhappily in love with another.
I have to mention the main character - Simon. The story would not be believeable if Simon was not extraordinarily beautiful and sexy. And he is. It's no surprise that everyone in the film wants him (but then again, the story is told from his point of view).
Lilies is funny, interesting, erotic and very good.

Ok, dette var ikke overraskende en _veldig_ bra opplevelse. Men jeg forstår dem som ser den første gang og synes at den er litt rotete. Jeg bare storkoste meg...
